Trent, I wasn't sure where you had Ardupilot discussion so I figured I'd just post here.
I watched your latest episode where you are figuring out the waypoint navigation. Could your problem with it seeming to wander be caused by your radio? I think I noticed that you use a potentiometer to switch modes. In my reading and video watching, I remember a video stating that that method of switching is inaccurate. Ardupilot is looking for a certain pulse width to correspond with each mode. Could the pulse width your radio its sending be wandering and therefore cause Ardupilot to be switching in between loiter and auto?
If that is the case, then it might be time to upgrade your radio to something that gives you switches.
Just a thought.

Ahh! I found your blog post over at DIY Drone and the responses. I too did not know that it would default to loiter when GPS signal was lost. Interesting. Also interested in the Geo-fencing functionality.
Now I just need to bite the bullet and get me an APM 2!
